Sperantes is a band that has been playing Christian music at the monastery of St. Francis (Sv. Frane) in Split for 40 years. It was founded by Fr. Gracijan Gašperov who wanted to give young people a chance to spend some quality time in church. Today it is directed by Anton Matijaca.

Every Sunday they sing during the Holy Mass at 10.30 (Sv. Frane) and each year they participate at the Christian music festivals.

From the very beginning their music is based on Christian songs of the Mediterranean influenced sound and they have covered a great number of songs by the Italian band  Alelluia. There is also a influence of other types of music such as gospel, country, soul, pop, rock... Since the 1980s  elements of classical music as well as traditional Dalmatian music (the klapa music, thanks to the late Ljubo Stipišić-Delmata) can be found within Sperantes repertoire.

Over the years more than sixty musicians contributed to the sound of Sperantes.

They released five albums: Tvojim putem/By your way, Tebi u susret/Meeting you, Mariji/To Mary, Dolina žutog cvijeta/The valley of yellow flowers and Za sva Vremena/For good.
